Tomoko Shiroki is Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of Action against Child Exploitation (ACE). After completing her postgraduate education in the UK in 2000, she worked on a variety of Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects as a researcher/consultant, until fully committing her time to ACE in 2015. She has substantial experience and expertise in planning and managing field projects, particularly in the cocoa sector in Ghana, and consulting with businesses on human rights issues in their supply chains. Most recently, she has worked closely with the Ghanaian Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations to develop the “Protocols and Guidelines for Establishing Child Labour Free Zones (CLFZs) in Ghana” that was officially launched in March 2020, and joined the JICA study project to support the implementation of CLFZs (Oct, 2020-present).
The event facilitates learning and discussion on the possibilities of the area-based approach as a solution to eliminate child labor in countries where it is prevalently found in agriculture.
